Location Data
CastWindow may request access to your device location if you choose to use location-based features. We use your location to show nearby tides, weather, marine conditions, and map context.
We do not sell your location data. We do not use your location for advertising. We do not track your location in the background.
If location access is denied or unavailable, CastWindow uses a default fallback location (Dunedin / Honeymoon Island, Florida).
Location may be sent to CastWindow server routes only as needed to return nearby conditions. We avoid storing exact location and round coordinates to reduce precision before they are used.
- Data used: Approximate, rounded location — only when you grant permission.
- Purpose: Tides, weather, marine conditions, and map context.
- Sharing: Not sold, not shared for advertising, not used for tracking.
- Retention: Not stored beyond what is needed to serve the request — location is processed ephemerally.
- Your control: Permission is optional and can be denied or revoked anytime in your browser or device settings.
Map & Chart Data
CastWindow map layers — bathymetry, shoreline imagery, and NOAA chart overlays — are for fishing context only. They are not intended for navigation, piloting, or safety-critical decisions.
Bathymetry and shoreline data come from surveys and imagery that may be months or years old. Shorelines, surf-zone sandbars, and troughs can shift after storms and may not match conditions on the water today.
